Intangible Gifts for Christmas

Happy Christmas Eve! We're less than 24 hours away from Christmas and I know that there are still some individuals who are doing last minute shopping. Instead of prepping the house for the arrival of family and friends, or getting ready to visit family or friends, some people are thinking hard while driving around or searching the web for a last-minute gift. No judgment here! I've absolutely done that myself in the past. Admittedly, online shopping and [childrens] Christmas Gift Lists on Amazon has really made gifting a lot easier. That's not to say that I don't enjoy going to my local shops to find something special. But mostly, I preffer an intagle gift.

An intangible gift is something that you cannot grasp or store away. It is a gift that strikes emotion and a lasting memory. It is a moment and an experience. It may or may not have a dollar value but still be priceless.

Once you discover that the best gift you can ever receive, and give is a warm hug, a phone call, sharing good news, and spending quality time with loved ones around a bountiful table... honestly, nothing tops that.

So, for my last-minute shoppers, here are a few intangible gift suggestions that will undoubtably bring a smile to your loved one's face.

  1. A surprise visit

Your physical presence is the best gift any loved one can receive. If you live near or a few hours away (max: 8 hours), making the drive to a relative's home and surprising them for the holiday is priceless. Sure, you might endure some traffic, it is Christmas Eve after all, but as long as you have a reliable vehicle and a full tank, you can do it. Make it a little extra special, or comical, and put a little bow on yourself.

  1. Tickets to an event

Surprising your loved one with tickets to an event that they've been wanting to attend is always a good gift idea.

  1. A surprise vacation

Going on a vacation is always something to look forward to, but it's far more exciting when it's a surprise. Whether your budget is tight or flexible, planning a surprise vacation is possible.

  1. A paid for subscription

There are so many choices here: Netflix, YouTube, Pandora, Disney+, Luvely app, BetterMe app, Curology, wine, coffee, and the list goes on. Choose from an endless selection of subscription services that you know your loved one will enjoy having. It is the gift that keeps giving for as long as you want to pay for the subscription.

  1. A prepaid enrollment

If you know there is a course that your relative or friend have been looking into, this is something you can treat them to. Or maybe you know there is a skill they've been wanting to learn, enrolling them in a course, such as MasterClass.com, would be a great idea.

  1. A prepaid service

A prepaid service either with a temporary enrollment or a gift card is definitely a good gift. A massage at Massage Envy, or a 3-month paid service for a waxing session at European Wax Center, or a prepaid cleaning service scheduled for January 2nd. All very good ideas!

As evidence of my listed gift guide, I'm sure you can agree that even for a last-minute shopper, these intangible gift ideas are easy and epic. And, of course, this list does not just apply to the Christmas season. Regardless of the route you take, remember that a gift should come from the heart, and all that matters is that you and your loved ones are well and together.

Wishing you and yours a very Happy Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year. This is A Modern Ladybug signing out for 2024.

With love,

Ody
